Editorial Policy
Every recommendation on ToolGenX is the result of genuine research and hands-on testing — not advertiser relationships, not sponsored placements, not guesswork.
Our Core Commitments
- We select and test products independently — no brand can pay to be featured.
- Affiliate commissions never influence rankings or scores.
- Every article is written or reviewed by a subject-matter expert.
- We correct errors promptly and transparently.
- Content is updated when products change or new data becomes available.
1. How We Choose Products to Review
Product selection is driven entirely by reader demand and category significance — not by which brands contact us or offer samples. We identify review topics through search trend analysis, reader questions, and our own knowledge of what genuinely matters in a category.
We do not accept payment to include any product in a review or buying guide. Brands cannot purchase a spot in our recommendations. If we receive a product sample for testing, we disclose it clearly within the article and return or donate the sample after evaluation.
When we cannot test a product directly, we base our analysis on verified user reviews, manufacturer specifications, third-party lab reports, and comparison data from multiple credible sources. We clearly distinguish first-hand testing from research-based assessments.
2. Our Testing Methodology
For products we test directly, our standard evaluation window is 30 to 60 days of real-world use. We test under conditions that reflect how actual buyers use these products — not controlled lab settings that favor favorable outcomes.
Our evaluation criteria include:
- Performance against manufacturer claims
- Build quality and long-term durability
- Ease of setup, use, and maintenance
- Value relative to competing products at the same price point
- Safety, reliability, and consistency across multiple test sessions
Products receive scores based on objective measurements where possible, and documented qualitative assessment where metrics alone cannot capture performance. Scores are never adjusted after publication unless a product undergoes a material change.
3. Editorial Independence
ToolGenX earns revenue through the Amazon Associates Program and similar affiliate partnerships. When you click a product link and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you.
Firewall between commerce and content
Affiliate commission rates are identical or negligible across competing products. Our editorial team does not know commission rates when writing recommendations. Rankings are determined solely by product performance.
Advertisers and affiliate partners have no input into article content, product rankings, or editorial decisions. If a partner requests editorial changes, we decline. If a partner terminates our relationship in response to an honest review, we maintain the review as published.
4. Who Writes Our Content
Every article is written by an author with relevant expertise in the category being covered. Author profiles — including credentials, areas of expertise, and professional backgrounds — are published on individual author pages linked from every article byline.
We do not publish anonymous content. Every piece of advice, every product ranking, and every buying guide is attributed to a named human author who stands behind the work. Articles may be edited for clarity, accuracy, and style by our editorial team, but the originating author remains credited.
We do not use AI to generate product opinions, test conclusions, or rankings. AI tools may be used for research assistance or draft structuring, but all factual claims and recommendations are verified and written by human experts before publication.
5. Accuracy and Fact-Checking
Before publication, all factual claims — specifications, pricing ranges, safety data, scientific findings — are verified against primary sources: manufacturer documentation, peer-reviewed research, regulatory agency databases, and direct product testing.
We do not cite secondary sources for critical claims without tracing the data back to its origin. If a claim cannot be verified, it is removed or clearly marked as unconfirmed.
6. Corrections Policy
We correct factual errors as soon as they are identified, regardless of how the error was discovered. Minor corrections (typos, formatting) are made silently. Material corrections — those that change a recommendation, score, or factual claim — are noted at the top of the article with a brief description of what changed and when.
To report an error, contact us at support@toolgenx.com with the article URL and the specific claim you believe is incorrect. We respond to correction requests within 5 business days.
7. Content Freshness and Updates
Product markets change. Prices shift, new models launch, and older products are discontinued. We review our content on a rolling 90-day schedule and update articles when products are materially updated, discontinued, or superseded by better alternatives.
Every article displays both its original publication date and its most recent update date. An updated date reflects a substantive content change — not cosmetic edits. We do not update dates to manipulate search rankings without corresponding content improvements.
